Locked out of your Android? What to try (FRP & Reset)
Two paths: Basic Reset if you know your Google account, or FRP unlock if you don’t. Data is erased on reset. After erase, the device requires the original Google ID/password (Factory Reset Protection).
Before you start — checklist
- Know your Google account (email + password) used on this phone. If unsure, start recovery: Recover your Google Account.
- Back up when possible (for working devices): Google Drive, Samsung Cloud, or Smart Switch. Reset erases data.
- Prepare a PIN list: write 3–4 likely PINs/passwords; try each once, cross it out, move on. Endless guessing can lock the device.
- Have proof of purchase handy. Some OEMs require it for ownership checks related to FRP/activation.
Step-by-step (use this order)
1
Try your PIN list — once each
(avoid lockouts)
(avoid lockouts)
- Use the 3–4 PINs/passwords you wrote down. Enter one carefully, then delete it from the list and try the next.
- Stop if you see long cooldown timers or “Too many attempts”. Continued guessing triggers stricter lockouts.
- If you gain access, back up immediately: Google Drive, Samsung Cloud, or Smart Switch.
2
Basic Reset (you know your Google account)
(fastest path)
(fastest path)
- Confirm your Google email and password work (sign in on another device/browser).
- Factory reset from Settings or Recovery. This erases data.
- On setup, sign in with the same Google account to pass FRP and restore your data from Google/Samsung backups.
After any reset, Android’s Factory Reset Protection requires the original Google account to activate the device.

FRP unlock (you don’t know the Google account)
(outsourced; takes days)
(outsourced; takes days)
- After erase, if you can’t sign in with the original Google ID, FRP blocks activation.
- We send FRP jobs to a trusted external technician. Typical turnaround is a few days; we’ll quote time and cost upfront.
- Bring proof of purchase if available; ownership checks can help in edge cases.

If you don’t remember your Google ID/password
(codes going to an old device)
(codes going to an old device)
- Start here: Recover your Google Account. Keep selecting “Try another way” until a usable verification method appears.
- Update recovery email/phone when you regain access. Remove defunct devices from 2-step verification.
- If recovery fails and FRP remains, proceed with our FRP unlock service (takes days).
What we tell customers
“If you know your Google account, we’ll do a basic reset and set it up again. If you don’t, FRP will block activation after erase. FRP unlock takes a few days because it’s outsourced. Bring a short list of 3–4 possible PINs, and try each once. If your reset codes go to an old phone, use Google’s official recovery and keep tapping ‘Try another way’.”
