Extend the battery life

Battery

Batteries are consumable parts that will need to be serviced after a period of time. This period of time depends on how it has been used. To prolong the battery life, here are some tips:

  • Calibrate the new battery

New batteries that came from the factory sometimes need to be calibrated. For the first few times of use, you might see the battery drain fast. Please give it a few cycles of charge so that it can adjust itself. A charging cycle is counted from the time device is connected to the charging cable to the time it stops charging.

  • Minimize overcharging

In general, batteries just need 1-2 hours to fully charge. The device will stop charging when the battery is fully charged. However, since the device keeps operating, even when the screen was turned off, the power still drains. The device then recognizes that the battery is not full and charges it again. This will continuously happen when the device is connected to the power and waste your charging cycle. Batteries were designed to have a certain amount of charging cycles. If they are runs out, the battery needs to be serviced. Start charging your device when it is down to 5%-10% and charge all the way up to at least 80% to maximize the charging cycle. Overcharging is the main reason that causes the battery to be inflated.

  • Keep the charging cable stably connected

Make sure that the charging cable is securely connected to the charging port. If you see a big gap between the charging cable and the charging port, it might need to be serviced.  Minimize unplugging and replugging while charging, it will waste the battery charging cycle. Sometimes the connection is not good causing the battery to be recharged many times during the process, kindly check the cleanliness of the charging socket regularly.

  • Minimize using the device while charging

Using the device while charging will reduce the efficiency of charging since the battery needs to take the power and is being drained at the same time. This will shorten battery life.

  • Keep your device not being damaged

Water damage or physical damage will cause chemical reactions inside the battery and will damage it. Sometimes, water damage or physical damage causes the battery to be inflated.

Prevent the charging port from being damaged

Charging ports are consumable parts that will need to be serviced after a period of time. This period of time depends on how it has been used. To prevent it from being damaged, here are some tips:

  • Keep the charging cable stably connected

Make sure that the charging cable is securely connected to the charging port. If you see a big gap between the charging cable and the charging port, it might need to be serviced.  Before fully plugging in, kindly check the charging cable and the charging port orientation, match them first and then plug in.

  • Keep the charging cable safely connected

Make sure that the device is charging on a stable surface and minimize touching the charging connection. Sometimes hitting the connected cable when charging will damage the charging port.
